Position Profile
Title: Director of Finance
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Position Description SummaryThe Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the Grasslands Club, ensuring the club's financial health and stability. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong understanding of private club operations, GAAP, and financial best practices. The Director of Finance will manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance, while also providing financial insights and recommendations to support the club's objectives.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑range financial plans. Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to department heads and the General Manager.
- Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Present financial results and key performance indicators to the General Manager and Board of Directors. - Cash Management:
Oversee all cash flow activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Manage banking relationships and ensure optimal cash utilization. - Internal Controls & Compliance:
Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard club assets. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax requirements. - Payroll & Benefits:
Supervise payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely payment of employee wages and benefits. - Audit Management:
Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and findings are addressed. - Capital Expenditures:
Assist in the evaluation and financial justification of capital expenditure projects. - Membership & Dues:
Work closely with the membership department on billing, collections, and analysis of membership revenue. - Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team. - Strategic Support:
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision‑making by the General Manager and Board.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7‑10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3‑5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the hospitality or private club industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present financial information to diverse audiences.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
