To increase income for the foundation and improve internal and external relations for the college by prospecting and soliciting major gifts, organizing, and/or implementing various fundraising and programmatic events, activities and projects for the department and the college.
Job DutiesWork closely with the Vice President for Advancement and Senior Director of Advancement on Capital Campaigns and major gift solicitation. Recruit and work with volunteer committees to plan, organize and implement foundation fundraising events. Conduct prospect research for cultivation purposes. Work with college employees to plan and implement certain college and foundation events such as commencement activities, Hal R. Ramer Society Annual Dinner, Board Meetings, Athletic Association events, regional center events, Tennessee Board of Regents meetings, SACS visits, etc.
Work with the President’s Office to plan and implement social and fundraising activities hosted by the President. Make presentations to community groups, civic organizations, and others to promote the college and special events. Develop and maintain business and community relationships throughout the Volunteer State Community College 12‑county service area. Work with the Office of Marketing, Communications, and Media Services to actively promote the college and all foundation events and activities.
Serve on various campus committees. Ensure appropriate correspondence with volunteers and donors (i.e., meeting announcements, thank‑you letters, etc.). Other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
- 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated success at special event fundraising and/or marketing/PR experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Publisher, Adobe InDesign) preferred.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the college and its mission, procedures and processes.
- Ability to give and accept supervision.
- Ability to evaluate situations, solve problems and make decisions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relations with students, faculty, staff, administration, volunteers and members of the community (to represent the college well under all circumstances).
$56,881 - $71,101 annual salary depending on experience
