Position Summary

Provides direct security and related public services.

Responsibilities

• Our Healthcare Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the hospital, its staff, and its patients and visitors — and serve as a visible deterrent to illegal activities on hospital property. Our Security Officers also provide supervision for at-risk patients in the hospital environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Completed High School Diploma or GED
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable licenses or certifications
• Strong vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, move or lift objects up to 80 lbs., help restrain or lift a person
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Tarian company driving guidelines if applicable (for Driving Roles).

Desired Qualification of the Security Officer

• Previous work experience with the public in a service setting

Armed (Handgun) Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age
• Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable local or state license or permit to carry a weapon.
• Ability to pass the initial and semi-annual Tarian approved firearms training course to demonstrate proficiency in use of firearm.
• Ability to participate and meet the requirements of additional firearms training at the discretion of the firearms instructor.
• Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the Tarian policies.

Taser Qualifications

• Ability to meet qualification standards when initially placed in a Taser position and annually thereafter.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable local or state license or permit to carry a Taser.
• Ability to participate in and pass additional Taser training at the discretion of the Taser instructor.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Work hours will vary depending on client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed 40 hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Environment may be fast paced and stressful.

The employee will spend approximately 75% of the time sitting and will walk or sit 25% of the time; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; occasionally the employee will stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Frequently engages in mental concentration, analysis, and formulation.

Flex Requirements

This unique Flex Officer role keeps you at one site while working various shifts. You’ll master all site procedures, handle different challenges each day, and be the go-to person for critical coverage. If you’re adaptable, reliable, and ready to keep your skills sharp, this role is for you. This schedule would offer the opportunity to move into a full time position if desired.
