Coord,Education Support Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE:
This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138miles west of Albuquerque, NM. Funding available through 08/31/2026; continuance beyond that date is subjectto the department's operational needs as outlined in APPM Policy #3200,Employee Classification.

The University ofNew Mexico has established branch colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuingpost-secondary education at different locations throughout the state. Branchcolleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multiculturalbackgrounds of their respective communities by offering community education programs, career education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper divisionentry into colleges and universities.

TRIO/Upward Boundis a federally funded program focused on providing opportunities forfirst-generation and low-income students, and students with disabilities tosucceed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. TRIO/Upward Bound at UNM-Gallup campus is a dynamic anddiverse program seeking a motivated and customer focused Education Support Coordinator to join a team of professionals dedicated to creating pathwaysfor college preparation and access for secondary school students.

This position is essential for service delivery, student support, and overall program success. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director in providingadministrative and academic support, coordinating and marketing academicprogramming, and assisting with program events, trips, workshops and otheroutreach activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning,organization, and implementation of the Upward Bound academic year andsummer program component
  • Develop promotional and marketing materials, educational information, newsletters and brochures
  • Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment and supplies; maintains documentation of students’ progress as well asalumni tracking
  • Oversees participant application process; communicates with prospective participants, parents, school counselorsand other stakeholders
  • Monitors and reconciles programfiscal services, including purchasing activities and student stipends
  • Collaborate with Outreach Advisors to identify non-academic needs of program participants
  • Connects participants to appropriate resources, tracks use of coordinated services, and provides specificreferral services
  • Develops and facilitatesworkshops on a variety of topics

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting at-risk students and families
  • Demonstrated experience interviewing students experiencing personal and academic issues
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and organizing education programs, meetings, and/or special events
  • Demonstrated administrative support experience, toinclude purchasing, database management, record keeping and fiscal support
