Position Summary
Full‑time Assistant Professor of Ceramics to begin in August 2026 at the University of New Mexico‑Gallup, located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. UNM‑Gallup is one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serves approximately 2,200 students in the Four Corners region and neighboring Native American reservations.
UNM‑Gallup offers Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED). The campus surrounds a diverse student population and is an important academic access point for local high schools and community members.
Responsibilities• Teach 24 credits per academic year in Ceramics (four courses across the spring and fall semesters).
• Maintain an active scholarship/service record as defined by the UA‑UNM CBA.
• Participate in monthly Division meetings and perform other duties as agreed with the division chair in a faculty‑chair agreement.
- Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) with an emphasis on Ceramics.
- Experience teaching lower‑level Ceramics courses.
- College‑level teaching experience at a branch community college or similar institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the university’s mission of serving local and global communities.
