This position is part of the Bread Springs Day School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a School Counselor, you will be responsible for serving as a Guidance Counselor in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. The counselor provides professional counseling services to students.

As a School Counselor CY-1710-21, your typical work assignments may include:

• Serving as a Guidance Counselor, working within the guidance function alongside the administration, guidance, academic, and vocational staff.
• Providing individual and group counseling services to students in personal, academic, and vocational areas to help them develop self-concept, self-understanding, self-adjustment, self-directiveness, and self-discipline.
• Conducting orientation services for new and re-entering students to familiarize them with school resources and opportunities.
• Counseling students on careers, educational, social interests, and exploring alternatives.
• Implementing school testing services to meet student needs.
• Organizing and interpreting program data, preparing case summaries and histories, and safeguarding confidential student data.
• Maintaining records of counseling sessions.
• Collaborating with other disciplines and community agencies to support students.
• Assisting staff with training sessions and acting as a liaison to community referral sources.
• Working with academic staff to monitor student progress and participate in student committees.
• Providing career counseling and developing class schedules aligned with career pathways.
