Our client seeks a visionary and experienced Head of Science Department to lead their science faculty in George . This leadership role involves overseeing the delivery of science education across multiple disciplines, including physics, chemistry, and biology, for students from foundation to secondary levels. You will be instrumental in setting the strategic direction for science education, ensuring academic excellence, fostering innovation in teaching methodologies, and managing a team of dedicated science educators.
The successful candidate will champion a culture of scientific inquiry, discovery, and critical thinking, preparing students for future STEM-related careers and contributing significantly to the school's reputation.
- Provide strong leadership and management for the science department, including staff supervision, professional development, and performance reviews.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an innovative and comprehensive science curriculum aligned with national and international standards.
- Oversee the effective delivery of instruction in physics, chemistry, biology, and integrated science subjects across all grade levels.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and laboratory facilities to ensure optimal learning conditions.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student curiosity and scientific exploration.
- Collaborate with other department heads and senior leadership to promote interdisciplinary learning and school-wide educational initiatives.
- A Master's degree in a relevant science discipline (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Science Education.
- Significant experience in teaching science, with a proven track record of leadership and departmental management.
- Deep understanding of current pedagogical practices and curriculum development in science education.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.
- Experience in managing laboratory resources and ensuring safety protocols are adhered to.
- Ability to integrate technology and modern scientific tools into the teaching and learning process.
