About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Drilling Operations Supervisor to oversee drilling activities in the George region. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of drilling engineering principles and practices. You will lead a team of drilling personnel, manage contractor relationships, and implement best practices to achieve operational excellence in challenging field conditions, contributing to the successful execution of exploration and development wells in a key operational hub.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage all aspects of onshore drilling operations, from rig mobilization to well completion.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate rig scheduling, equipment, materials, and personnel requirements.
  • Monitor drilling performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency and safety.
  • Manage relationships with drilling contractors and service providers, ensuring performance targets are met.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture among the rig crews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in oil and gas drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven experience with various drilling techniques, including directional drilling and managed pressure drilling.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling fluid systems , cementing, and well control procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Valid IWCF Level 3 or higher certification is highly desirable.
