Join the team at Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) in Gallup, NM, and apply your skills as a Clinical Psychologist to deliver essential behavioral healthcare—including therapy, psychological evaluations, and crisis care—to the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities.
This Full-Time 1099 Contract / Locum Tenens opportunity offers stability, cultural connection, and professional fulfillment in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
Schedule & Details:- 8‑hour shifts, Monday through Friday
- No weekends, holidays, overtime, or on‑call
- Full‑time hours
- Can work off any U.S. license
- Up to 1‑year initial contract with optional extensions
- Outpatient psychiatry with possible telepsychiatry opportunities
- Multiple openings in the Navajo Area
- Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and evidence‑based therapy.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis intervention.
- Develop treatment plans and coordinate care with multidisciplinary medical teams.
- Document all encounters in the IHS EHR per federal and Joint Commission standards.
- Participate in program development, consultation, and peer review activities.
- Deliver culturally competent and trauma‑informed care to Navajo Nation patients.
Additional responsibilities may be added as needed to support clinic operations and community programs. Contractors must follow all other job‑related instructions as assigned by the Behavioral Health Director or designated supervisor.
Indian Preference Exercised:In accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code §472 and §473), qualified Indian applicants will be given preference in hiring and placement.
Minimum Qualifications:- Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA‑accredited program.
- Completion of an APA‑accredited internship.
- Active, unrestricted license to practice psychology in any U.S. state or territory.
- Minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral clinical experience.
- Current BLS certification.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Prior Indian Health Service, federal, or tribal behavioral health experience.
- Familiarity with integrated behavioral health models and rural care delivery.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and telehealth delivery (RPMS).
