Repair and Tool Technician

Overview

Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot. Responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. Provides equipment recommendations and ensures units are maintained. Works in store Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In-store duties include assisting customers in Tool Rental, writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verifying operation and demonstrating proper use as needed.

Also responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. In non-store locations, ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.

• Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices.
• Provide service to customers in Tool Rental and process equipment rental contracts and repair invoices.
• Demonstrate proper tool use as needed and ensure tools operate correctly.
• Maintain day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department.
• Repair, test, and clean units in non-store locations before returning to the originating store.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of tools and manage tool inventory by repairing and maintaining tools as needed.

• Experience or training in repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices (or equivalent).
• Ability to work in-store and in repair centers; willingness to work with customers and write contracts/invoices.
• Strong attention to detail and inventory management skills.
