• ATHLETIC COACHING LICENSE, 7-12
• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department and complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association. ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
• Must meet licensing requirements via the New Mexico PED as applicable

NOTE:

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and stay current with new theories and procedures relevant to the field.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

REPORTS TO:

The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.

SUPERVISES:
The head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.

JOB GOAL:
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach should promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

Work with students interested in sports, provide practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season. Teach and enforce rules and regulations. May require work evenings and weekends.
