- ATHLETIC COACHING LICENSE, 7-12
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (from the New Mexico Public Education Department) as well as completing the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association. ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)

- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
- The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continually examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- Work with students interested in sports, provide necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful during a sports season. Teach and enforce rules and regulations. Requires work on evenings and weekends.
The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
Work EnvironmentOn-site attendance is mandatory for this position.
SupervisesHead coach coordinates and supports a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
Job GoalTo instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success, while promoting socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment. To upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation. Work with students interested in sports, provide practice support and advice for team success; involve evenings and weekends.
