ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Galt Public Works Department is accepting applications for Project Manager. This recruitment may close prior to the advertised date once we receive a sufficient number of qualified applications.

Additional pay and benefits
  • Incentive Pay - Up to 5% incentive for City approved educational courses; some Mid-management staff may be eligible for up to 15%.
  • Longevity Pay - 5% at 10 years; 7.5% at 15 years (Non-Sworn mid-management). For Sworn mid-management: 2.5% at 8 years; 5% at 10 years; 7.5% at 12 years.
  • Bilingual Pay - $100 per month.
  • Cell Phone Stipend - $75 per month.
  • Medical-in-lieu - $200 per month for employee only; $350 per month for employee plus one; $500 per month for family.
Benefits
  • Tuition Reimbursement - Up to $4,000 per fiscal year.
  • Holiday Pay - Fourteen (14) paid holidays: one floating holiday and thirteen fixed holidays observed (New Year’s Day, MLK Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
  • Vacation Leave - 80 hours per year for first 4 years of service; 120 hours after 4 years; 160 hours after 10 years; 200 hours after 15 years; 240 hours after 22 years.
  • Vacation Credit - 4+ years of prior public agency experience may accrue at 120 hours.
  • Vacation Cash Out - Eligible employees may cash out up to 80 hours per year.
  • Sick Leave - 96 hours per year.
  • Admin Leave - 70 hours for exempt employees.
  • Health Insurance - City pays a generous portion of CalPERS medical premium (9 options);
    City pays 100% for dental and vision premiums.
  • Life Insurance - City-paid $50,000 policy and $1,500 policy for dependents.
  • Long Term Disability - City-paid policy-benefit up to 60% of base salary.
  • EAP - Confidential employee assistance plan.

EXEMPT
UNREPRESENTED MID-MANAGEMENT

Definition

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional-level project management work including construction projects for Capital Improvement Programs (CIP), development/entitlement projects including inspection and interpretation of plans. This incumbent has an understanding of contracting code and public outreach and performs related work as required.

Supervision

Receives general supervision from the Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer or designee. May exercise direct and indirect supervision over assigned professional, technical, supervisorial, field personnel, and/or contractors.

Class characteristics

This is a mid-management classification responsible for managing complex Engineering and Public Works projects. The incumbent organizes and oversees day-to-day processing, reporting, and recordkeeping activities. Responsibilities include performing project planning, design, review and construction oversight; including cost estimating, preparation of plans and specifications, and environmental reviews.

  • Serves as a project manager for assigned citywide Capital and Development projects.
