Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist Faculty Opportunity at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) South of Houston/Galveston, TX

University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) – Galveston, Texas. Heart Failure-Transplant Cardiologist Faculty Opportunity

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, Texas, seeks an advanced Heart Failure and VAD / Transplant cardiologist to join its robust, academic cardiology practice at the level of Assistant or higher (all Academic ranks welcome). The successful candidate will become an integral part of our growing Department and the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute (SHVI) and will work in a well‑managed, robust cardiology practice with inpatient and outpatient clinical duties and a growing Heart Transplant and VAD program.

The position may include a start‑up research package and dedicated protected time for scholarly activities, both of which will be adjusted according to the candidate’s prior research experience, academic achievements, and area of investigative interest. The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine has expanded significantly in recent years and now includes 33 faculty physicians (3 Electrophysiology, 5 Advanced Heart Failure, 8 Interventional, and 17 General Cardiology).

The department also serves as the professional home for 32 fellows (26 in General Cardiology, 3 in Advanced Heart Failure, and 3 in Interventional Cardiology). Faculty enjoy the strong institutional support and infrastructure of UTMB Health, including four hospitals and numerous ambulatory clinics across the region. The department is committed to maintaining a positive, stable, and efficient work environment. The selected candidate will benefit from highly collaborative and intellectually stimulating interactions with faculty colleagues, fellows, and staff.

Interest and experience in clinical research endeavors are highly desirable, though not required.

Requirements
  • Board certified or eligible in ABIM.
  • Completed a structured heart failure fellowship.
  • Must obtain a valid Texas state medical license.
  • Expertise in conducting clinical research trials is a plus but not required.
  • Exceptional communicator with superior people skills, positive attitude, and genuine desire to benefit patients through the practice of academic heart failure cardiology.
Compensation

A generous base salary is offered and is based upon Academic rank and experience with an obtainable RVU bonus program. Additional benefits include a relocation allowance, a superior family benefits program and an unsurpassed state retirement program.
