Job Summary

Admission Attendant I is responsible for daily customer service duties, including providing accurate directions and colorful descriptions of attractions, assisting guests, cashiering, scanning tickets, and performing as a costume character.

Essential Functions General
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner as they enter.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for delivering a high‑quality guest experience by initiating interactions and answering questions.
  • Ensure prompt service while creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
  • Maintain a neat appearance with a full uniform as specified by departmental leadership.
  • Keep the workstation organized and stocked; finish the shift in an orderly manner with all supplies replenished.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication within the Admissions Department and with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of Moody Gardens attractions, amenities, daily events, and seasonal special events.
  • Report all maintenance problems to supervisors and/or Guest Services Manager.
  • Clock in and out using Paycom within required parameters to track work hours.
Attraction Entry
  • Scan all tickets and membership cards at exhibit entrances to verify appropriate attractions and valid membership cards (correct person pictured and within expiration date).
  • Explain exhibit etiquette rules (e.g., no food or drink, no pets, staying on the trail).
  • Assist guests with strollers and wheelchairs.
Cashier
  • Perform general ticketing duties and accurate cashiering during transactions following accounting procedures set by the Accounting Department and Management.
  • Offer specials and provide information on daily events and accurate descriptions of all attractions, including operating hours and prices.
  • Account for all monies received during the shift.
  • Follow procedures for cashing out as set by the Department Head.
  • Assist guests with questions about kiosk purchases.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary.
Photos
  • Invite guests to take a special photo of their visit.
  • Explain the photo process, line up guests, and take a satisfactory photo following Photo Guidelines.
  • Learn proper photography skills, including setup, troubleshooting, breakdown, transportation, and storage of camera and other equipment.
Character Role and Handling
  • Communicate without vocalization, using movement and gestures to suggest actions and words while portraying emotions such as happiness, sadness, shyness, and excitement.
  • Greet and interact with all guests—especially children—in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner while respecting those who are afraid of costumed characters.
  • Maintain character during all interactions and work with teammates to ensure guest and character safety.
  • Properly maintain and put away costumes after the shift.
Admission Attendant II

Responsible for greeting guests, assisting with member and renewals, answering phone calls, and providing clerical support to the administrative department.

Essential Functions – General
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner as they arrive.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for delivering a high‑quality guest experience.
  • Read and sign daily memos that update pricing and events.
  • Maintain a neat professional appearance with a full uniform as specified.
  • Maintain an organized workstation; ensure supplies are stocked and the shift is closed properly.
  • Provide general ticketing duties and accurate cashiering during all transactions.
  • Account for all money received during the shift.
  • Follow the department head’s cashing procedures.
  • Communicate effectively within the Admissions Department and with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of the attractions, amenities, daily events, and seasonal special events.
  • Report all maintenance problems to supervisors and Guest Services Manager.
  • Clock in and out using Paycom.
Membership Sales
  • Answer guest questions about hours, ticket prices, attraction information, movie times, directions, and annual membership information.
