Positions include Occupational Therapist (OT) and Senior Occupational Therapist (Sr OT) in the Acute Care setting at UTMB Health in Galveston. The roles involve evaluation, development, coordination, and implementation of occupational therapy interventions, ensuring delivery meets legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas.
- For the Senior role: five years of related experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide evaluation, treatment and discharge planning to patients relative to age, culture, and condition in the assigned clinical area.
- Document patient evaluation, treatment progress and billing in the medical record; documentation must meet peer review requirements.
- Communicate pertinent patient information with the patient, family, physicians, team members, and other disciplines.
- Participate in rounds, clinics and case conferences as assigned.
- Meet required competencies for the assigned area.
- Delegate duties and monitor service delivery to COTA and Rehabilitation Aide.
- Supervise students as requested (minimum 1 year of experience for supervision).
- Participate in in-service/continuing education/research opportunities.
- Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Perform related duties as required.
Additional Senior OT Specific Qualifications
- For Sr OT: supervision and mentoring of entry-level therapists; involvement in training and supervision of staff; participation in department, state, or national teaching, quality assurance activities, and evidence-based practice initiatives; support for community program roles related to hospital or organization.
