The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a diverse research community with strengths in nuclear architecture, genomics, ancient DNA, structural biology, infectious disease, biophysics, and quantitative biology. In addition to a highly collaborative environment, UTMB offers many outstanding research facilities and benefits from adjacency to the Galveston National Laboratory which houses one of only two laboratories conducting research on a university campus at the BSL-4 level in the United States.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UTMB Health invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions at all ranks; assistant, associate, or full professor, in the broad research areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, and computational biology. Areas of particular interest include genomics, artificial intelligence, and single cell and spatial methods. A Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) is required. Successful candidates are expected to develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
These positions are anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.
