Pharmacy Technician or Tech Trainee - Galveston

Job Description

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician or Tech Trainee to join our team in Galveston. The successful candidate will assist pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services associated with the preparation, storage, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.

• Prepare unit-dose medications specific to patient needs, including patient’s weight, allergies, and age.
• Retail and deliver medication orders and supplies.
• Compound bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patient needs.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate automated technology, including compounding, repackaging, cartfill, and Automated Drug Systems.
• Communicate effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients.
• Maintain adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) or registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the TSBP.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and solve problems.

• ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification.
• Two years of pharmacy technician experience.

• Standard pharmacy environment.
• Working with the public.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and hazardous medications.
