DRG Coder - RCO Coding
The University of Texas Medical Branch
Job SummaryTo provide the advanced skills necessary for proper coding of all pertinent diagnoses and procedures and to provide optimal DRG assignment after thorough review of medical record and analysis of DRG options.
Minimum Qualifications- Three (3) years of related experience in inpatient DRG coding, hospital-based coding, or a similar coding environment
- Experience with communicating, training, and educating providers in proficiency
- Knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, medical terminology, and medical abbreviations
- Basic knowledge of IP DRG/PCS coding

- CCS – Certified Coding Specialist (AHIMA)
- RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator (AHIMA)
- RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician (AHIMA)
