Job SummaryThe Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the execution of the banquet events, coordinating all aspects of the event, managing the staff, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Position AuthorityThe incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
Position GuidelinesPosition guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
Essential Functions- Oversee banquet event execution according to BEOs.
- Lead and support banquet servers and housemen during setup, service, and breakdown.
- Conduct pre‑shift meetings with banquet staff.
- Ensure high service standards and guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate with culinary and operations teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Enforce safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with management and address guest concerns promptly.
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- At least two years server experience required.
- Some cash handling experience required.
- CPR Certification and First Aid training preferred.
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must be reliable and responsible.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
- Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and employees so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required.
- Ability to remain in feet standing or walking for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
