Manages, plans, and executes all catered events through the Department of University Events. Provides quality service in the preparation, set‑up, and clean‑up of catered events in accordance with department standards across all four UTMB campuses. Coordinates with event hosts, staff, non‑UTMB contract employees, contract kitchen staff, and University Events management to provide services to multiple locations within the UTMB Health System.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or GED.
- One (1) year of previous related food service experience.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Completed Safe Driving training.
- Banquet experience.
- Working knowledge of Cater Trax.
- Manage, oversee, and execute official UTMB catered events; direct supervision of personnel and temp staff hired for each event.
- Coordinate kitchen for timely pick‑up and delivery to multiple locations.
- Order and deliver floor stocks and supplies for all UTMB campus Special Use Facilities and planned events.
- Ensure all items are delivered as requested by a customer, resolving issues with kitchen and temporary staffing.
- Maintain proper food temperatures in accordance with department policy; notify management if equipment is not maintaining proper temperature.
- Demonstrate correct usage of utensils and portion control according to established procedures.
- Ensure attractive garnishing and food display in accordance with department standards.
- Apply principles such as universal precautions, patient rights, fire safety, disaster preparedness, general safety, hazard communication, continuous process improvements, and HACCP.
- Supervise temporary staff for set‑up, service, and clean‑up at multiple events in multiple locations.
- Oversee facilities for special events, coordinating with departments of Police, Maintenance, and facility management.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Lead and motivate event teams and volunteers.
- Experience managing multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
- Work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals, including university executives, administrators, deans, department chairmen, and external constituencies.
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work ScheduleOccasionally work evenings, weekends, and travel, when necessary.
