The Executive Director of Faculty Recruitment will oversee efforts related to the recruitment of faculty members s includes marketing and outreach to passive and active prospects to fill active positions and develop a talent pipeline. The Executive Director will work closely with senior leadership, academic department chairs, faculty search committees, and external partners to attract top-tier talent and ensure a seamless, efficient, and effective recruitment process.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy
  • Lead the overall strategy for faculty recruitment across academic departments, ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission, vision, and goals.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop short- and long-term plans to address faculty hiring needs.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to recruitment staff and other key stakeholders involved in faculty search processes.

  • Develop best practices and standard operating procedures based on trends in faculty recruitment within academic medicine.

Recruitment Process Oversight
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to develop strategies to oversee the full faculty recruitment lifecycle, from developing search strategies and position descriptions to final offer negotiations and onboarding.

  • Ensure the recruitment process is streamlined, effective, and compliant with Federal, State and institutional policies, regulations, and best practices.

  • Coordinate with department chairs, deans, and faculty search committees to understand staffing needs and ensure appropriate candidates are identified.

  • Manage external search firms, when necessary, to source candidates for hard-to-fill positions.

  • Develop recruitment pipeline and identification programs to attract both internal and external talent.

  • Prepare and present regular reports to leadership on recruitment progress, challenges, and goals.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including department chairs, deans, faculty leaders, and external partners, to ensure faculty recruitment efforts meet the needs of the institution.

  • Communicate regularly with leadership on recruitment status, challenges, and successes.

  • Serve as a liaison between faculty candidates and institutional leadership, ensuring a positive candidate experience.

  • Build faculty retention programs focusing on optimizing the onboarding and first 180 day experience for faculty.

Budget & Resource Management
  • Oversee the budget for faculty recruitment activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective cost management.

  • Ensure the recruitment process is sufficiently staffed and equipped to meet the institution’s goals.

Marginal or Periodic Functions
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

  • Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of the academic medical center environment, including faculty roles, tenure processes, and clinical and research recruitment needs.

  • Proven success in designing and implementing recruitment strategies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to drive decision-making.

  • In-depth knowledge of recruitment best practices, compliance standards, and industry trends in faculty hiring.

  • Experience in academic medicine or healthcare recruitment.

  • Familiarity with faculty compensation structures and benefits packages.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, human resources, or a related field plus seven (7) years of experience in academic recruiting, faculty affairs, or a related area to include five (5) years in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, human resources, or related field plus ten (10) years of experience in academic medicine or healthcare recruitment.
