Desktop Support Technician

1.) Desktop & Network Troubleshooting Experience (5+ years on Experience)

2.) Knowledge in System Administration from an Helpdesk/Active Directory Standpoint (2-5 years of Experience)

3.) Cabling & Physical Hardware Setup - Knowledge in CAT5/CAT6 Cables, Fiber Termination Experience

We are looking for an IT Support Contractor to provide on‑site technical support and serve as an IT liaison within correctional medical clinics located in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on technical work across multiple locations and prefer a dynamic work environment over a traditional desk job. Veterans transitioning from military service are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Provide technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve local network and broadband connectivity issues.
• Perform cable installations for network, telephone, and video systems.
• Collaborate with vendors to implement and support new technologies within the facilities.
• Maintain and deploy system images in accordance with departmental standards.
• Assist staff with software and hardware functionality.
• Monitor and report on desktop, server, and network performance to technicians and management.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting structures.

• Remote desktop tools (e.g., VNC)
• Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policy Objects
• Windows Server administration
• Networking technologies: T1, Fiber Optics, Ethernet switches, Cisco routers
• Wireless access point configuration and support
• Symantec Ghost for imaging and deployment
• Software deployment and terminal emulation tools
• Support for laser and desk jet printers, scanners
• Experience with electronic time capture systems

• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Intermediate Level

This is a Contract position based out of Galveston, TX.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
