Shriners Children's Texas is where hope and healing meet. As one of only four pediatric burn specialty hospitals in the Shriners Children's health system, we are designated by the American Burn Association (ABA) and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma as a verified pediatric burn center.
Located on Galveston Island, our 30-bed inpatient hospital provides a full line of both inpatient and outpatient care specializing in burn care, orthopedic conditions, complex skin conditions, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Job OverviewShriners Children’s is seeking a part‑time Night Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing inpatient and PICU team at Shriners Children’s Texas. This provider will provide critical overnight coverage for all inpatient and PICU service lines, including Burn, Orthopedics, Spine, and Cleft Lip & Palate.
The Night Nurse Practitioner serves as the primary in‑house overnight advanced practice provider (8 pm–6 am), managing patient needs, performing urgent assessments and overnight admissions, and supporting night nursing teams. The NP ensures seamless hand‑offs to daytime teams and practices with autonomy under established protocols, with Intensivist physicians available for escalation.
This 0.5 FTE role consists of two 10‑hour overnight shifts per week, including rotating weekend coverage (Fri–Sat or Sat–Sun). The NP covers the entire inpatient and PICU census overnight, averaging 10 patients (range 5–14).
