This position supports the dredge with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation (EIA) system. The role reports directly to the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation Manager.
- Electrical system: installation, troubleshooting, and repair of AC/DC and synchronous motors, MCC switchgears, controls, fault protection relays, breakers, and transformers.
- Instrumentation system: installation, troubleshooting, and repair of Pressure Transmitters, flow meters, level transducers, RTD/Thermocouple temperature sensors, light switches, proximity switches, encoders, etc.
- Automation systems: installation, troubleshooting, and repair of PLC and computer systems, network switches, and other related components.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as high voltage testers, multimeters, megger, calibrators.
- I&E certification or degree highly preferred.
- Ability to read electrical wiring schematics.
- Willingness to fill in as a relief Electrician on dredges.
- Willingness to travel to dredges.
- Three or more years of experience in the electrical field.
- Ability to read instrumentation drawings.
- Willingness to live in Galveston or relocate.
- Reliable and motivated.
- Ability to obtain TWIC.
- Effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors.
- Competencies:

- Walk, step, climb, or otherwise move between locations of varying heights and access parameters.
- Stand, stoop, twist, bend, crouch, kneel, squat, climb, or sit repetitively and/or for long periods.
- Perform repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back.
- Lift and carry 30 lbs individually; load up to 60 lbs requires additional lifting aids.
- Push and pull with a peak force of 150 lbs.
- Climb stairs and/or vertical ladders of 6 ft or greater.
- Work in confined spaces and/or elevated heights.
- Adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, prolonged exposure to dust, wet or humid environments, loud noise, and vibration.
Employees must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including hard hats, safety glasses, life vests, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, and personal flotation devices.
