Job SummaryResponsible for the daily operations of the Inventory, Receiving, Distribution and/or Mail Services areas to ensure effective supply chain management of designated inventories, materials, equipment, mail and services in a warehouse environment.

Essential Job FunctionsInventory:
- Prioritizes daily work assignments
- Receives merchandise for inventory process
- Puts merchandise away in assigned locations
- Does “let-downs of merchandise” from the reserve location to the primary case location
- “Replenishment of merchandise” from Case locations to Repack locations
- Pulls merchandise from inventory stock for customer orders
- Delivers “Stat” orders to the hospital storeroom
- Prepares customer orders for delivery
Delivery:
- Performs a combination of daily tasks associated with the distribution of merchandise to the hospitals and UTMB campus
- Provides input for the management of the Cylinder and Distribution operations to maximize cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction to meet UTMB fiscal and institutional performance objectives.
- Reviews discrepancies and takes appropriate corrective action as required.
- Operates standard vehicles that do not require a commercial license.
- Operates standard materials handling equipment and vehicles.
- Fills a variety of cryogenic liquid containers/tanks with liquid nitrogen or liquid oxygen.
- Utilizes online system(s) in the receipt, delivery, and tracking of materials, records, and/or equipment.
Receiving:
- Performs a combination of daily tasks associated with the receiving/shipping/surplus process
- Docks incoming merchandise into Central Receiving/Inventory system
- Assists carrier truck drivers with the unloading of merchandise.
- Moves bulk shipments to either the bulk receiving area or the Inventory receiving area.
- Finds the correct delivery location for non-PO shipments.
- Inspects PO shipments for damage and correctness against the PO and packing slip.
- Separates “stat flagged” orders, radioactive shipments, and cold packs for rush delivery.
- Takes customer call and emails. Resolves and/or refers in an appropriate manner.
Mail/Packages:
- Performs any combination of the following daily tasks associated with processing mail for the UTMB campus community
- Unloading and loading of the U.S. Postal Service mail truck.
- Primary/Secondary sorting of all incoming Campus or U.S. Postal Service mail.
- Packaging or banding/prep work associated with departmental mail carrier delivery.
- Preparation and documentation on Accountable mail for signature and tracking purposes.
- Delivers and picks up mail from the customer in a courteous and timely manner.
- Obtains proper authorized signature for delivered and returned accountable mail.
• Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / ExperienceHigh school education and no experience required. Valid Texas Drivers License required. Must obtain within 6 months of hire:
Forklift Certification (except for Mail Services) and Motor Vehicle Safety Course (except for Mail Services).
- Inventory: This job requires the ability to lift up to 63 lbs. floor to knuckle and requires frequent bending, standing and walking.
- Delivery: This job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. floor to knuckle and 40 lbs. knuckle to shoulder and requires frequent bending, standing and walking.
- Receiving: This job requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. floor to knuckle and up to 35 lbs. overhead and requires frequent bending, standing and walking.
- Mail Services: This job requires the ability to lift up to 63 lbs. floor to knuckle and requires frequent bending, standing and walking.
* This is a contract position through UTMB Health Care Systems Staffing (HCSS). There are no benefits associated with this position, with the exception of the 401k retirement plan offered through HCSS.
