Salary Information
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- As key members of Student Services, our Counsellors are committed to delivering accessible and professional support that addresses the unique needs of every student, promoting both academic success and personal development.
- Provide guidance and counselling services to CNA students, including individual, career, and group counselling.
- Liaise with staff and administration on behalf of students through committees and on an individual basis.
- Assist with conflict mediation and resolution.
- Administer and interpret standardized tests associated with individual career and group counselling.
- Deliver student support courses such as job search training, study skills and related activities.
- May involve assisting with various student affairs activities; including student council, recreation programmes, winter carnival, student aid and other campus activities such as orientation, special events and tours.
- Other related duties as required.
- Master's Degree in Education with a major in Educational Psychology or Counselling (or equivalent).
- Recent and relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of current counselling interventions and strategies.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and practices.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Conflict mediation and resolution skills.
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Ability to manage time and tasks.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
- Commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.
- When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
- Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
- Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.
