Full-time term French Immersion Classroom Teacher
- Kindergarten position. Duties commence September 8, 2026 to June 25, 2027 or until incumbent on leave returns (maternity).
As a French second language teacher you will have a critical role in ensuring student achievement as specified in the curriculum guides of French programs. You are committed to furthering the goals for student success in an inclusive, safe and caring bilingual environment. You subscribe to a "students first" philosophy in your practice and believe that collaboration is key for your growth as an educator.
Standardsof Practice
Upon selection, candidates should be prepared to discuss their experience and demonstrated competencies in relation to the 8 Standards of Practice for Classroom Teachers (outlined below):
- Know learners and how they learn (Connaître les élèves et leurs modes d'apprentissage)
- Know the content and teaching strategies (Maîtriser le contenu et les stratégies pédagogiques)
- Ability to plan and implement effective, responsive, teaching and learning (Capacité à planifier et à mettre en œuvre un enseignement et un apprentissage efficace et adaptatif)
- Ability to assess, provide feedback, and report on student learning (Capacité à évaluer, à fournir de la rétroaction et donner un compte rendu des progrès des élèves)
- Ability to create and maintain supportive, safe, and inclusive environments (Capacité à créer et à maintenir des environnements favorables, sûrs et inclusifs)
- Ability to engage collaboratively with families and the school community (Capacité à col laborer avec les familles et la communauté scolaire)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and understanding of outcomes and specific content expertise and second language teaching methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, experience and commitment to ensure culturally relevant instruction and assessment for all students.
- Ability to balance language instruction with content delivery.
- Demonstrated ability of an accurate and fluent linguistic model to ensure a language-rich learning environment.
- Ability to ensure and facilitate authentic interactive strategies for the progressive development of French second language learning.
- Knowledge and experience in appropriate second language literacy development through a variety of differentiated strategies and resources.
- Bachelor of Education
- Primary/Elementary with a Minor in French (6 courses). - NL Teaching Certificate
- Level IV or higher. - Minimum of B2 DELF Assessment (70% overall average with no less than 60% minimum in all 4 components).
- French First Language applicants may be considered equivalent.
- Equivalencies will be considered.
Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
