Lawrence University invites applications for the position of Assistant AD for Athletic Communications. We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and detail-oriented professional to lead the coverage, promotion, and brand storytelling of Lawrence’s 24varsity athletics programs.

This individual serves as the primary liaison between the Department of Athletics, external media outlets, and the campus community. The ideal candidate will bridge traditional athletic communications with modern digital media, ensuring that the achievements of Lawrence student-athletes are shared accurately, widely, and creatively.

The Assistant AD for Athletic Communications plays a key role in elevating the visibility of Lawrence Athletics through strategic media relations, digital content creation, high-quality live streaming management, and accurate statistical services. This position requires a collaborative, organized communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to advancing the mission of Division III athletics and Lawrence University.

• Oversee and actively update the official athletics website, ensuring accurate rosters, schedules, and team information.
• Manage and grow Lawrence Athletics’ official social media channels, with a strong focus on creating visual content, graphics, and short-form video recaps.
• Shift focus away from traditional printed publications to design dynamic digital record books, online media guides, and digital game programs.
• Manage and elevate the department’s multi-sport live streaming broadcasts, ensuring high-quality video production, reliable graphics, and student-led commentary.
• Oversee game-day press box operations, including public address announcers, scoreboard operators, and music.
• Maintain accurate, real‑time statistics, box scores, and historical records for all 24 sports using standard NCAA‑approved software (e.g., NCAA Live Stats/Genius Sports, Stat Crew).
• Report all scores and statistics to the NCAA and conference offices in a timely manner.
• Collaborating with professional staff across the department to ensure comprehensive coverage of events, special projects, and storytelling efforts, including coordinated work with colleagues.
• Serve as the main contact for local, regional, and national media, proactively pitching feature stories about student‑athlete achievements both on and off the field.
• Write and distribute timely press releases, post‑game recaps, and special award announcements.
• Proficiency in design, publication, and multimedia platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Gipper, Box Out).
• Recruit, train, and manage a robust student staff to assist with game‑day operations, including statistics callers, camera operators, photographers, and videographers.
• Create a supportive learning environment where students gain hands‑on experience in sports information and media production.

• Experience in sports information, athletic communications, or a related field.
• Familiarity with NCAA Division III athletics preferred.
• Experience with sports statistical software and website content management systems ( CMS ).
• Ability to work non‑traditional hours, including extensive evenings and weekends based on the athletic schedule.
• Must successfully complete a criminal and MVR background check, meet University Authorized Driver Policy requirements, and complete reference checks.
