PositionSummary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialty Associate, EPIC – Garden City. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling appointments for surgical, infusion, and complex specialised procedures; obtaining pre‑authorisations and certifications for procedures as appropriate; assisting with post‑visit inter‑departmental scheduling for patient visits, treatments, and procedures in collaboration with other areas within the hospital;
and may provide assistance to less senior staff and cover the front desk as needed.
- Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office/clinical staff.
- Answer patient questions to ensure understanding and satisfaction, or refer them to senior staff.
- Maintain confidentiality on privileged matters.
- Assist, provide guidance, and/or train less senior staff with completing intake‑related duties.
- Provide front‑desk coverage as needed.
- maintain physician patient schedule, patient procedure schedules, appointment calendar, and operating room schedule; schedule appointments for surgery, infusion, and complex specialised procedures.
- Obtain pre‑authorisations and certifications for surgical and infusion procedures; ensure accurate procedure and diagnosis coding, and verify information with physicians when needed.
- Assist with the completion of special projects, reports, and activities; ensure requested information is accurate and complete, and bring problems or questions to supervisor’s attention.
- Maintain workload statistics and other departmental record data; prepare information neatly as directed by supervisor.
- Prepare memoranda, letters, labels, routine manuscripts, correspondence, and other documents as needed; review work for accuracy and completeness.
- Take patient phone calls, screen calls professionally, schedule appointments for visits, procedures, and follow‑ups; collect patient demographic data, verify insurance eligibility, coordinate pre‑authorisations, take medical history, and assign appointments based on procedure and insurance coverage.
- Coordinate inter‑departmental scheduling for specialist visits, scans, and procedures in compliance with physician directives and insurance coverage.
High school diploma or equivalent; 1‑2 years of medical clerical experience in a physician practice environment; excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills; light, accurate keyboarding skills; knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of EPIC Ambulatory.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state law on salary transparency in job advertisements. The salary range for this role is $66,209.99 – $66,210.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need; the range does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other compensation.
