Human Resources Partner Human Resources JOB SUMMARY

The HR Partner (HRP) serves as a key resource to Adelphi University employees and managers, providing guidance and support in talent acquisition and development, employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, and performance management for the assigned areas.

After the training period, this position will have the ability to work remotely one day a week and four days in the office.

SALARY INFORMATION

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO

Senior Human Resources Partner

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Consultation and Collaboration
  • Partner with managers and employees to develop and implement HR strategies that support departmental and University goals.
  • Advise managers on effective use of HR services and resources.
  • Facilitate discussions on recruitment, compensation, and performance strategies.
  • Respond to employees’ and managers day-to-day HR questions and needs.
  • Talent Acquisition
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned areas, ensuring quality hires and a diverse workforce.
  • Post full-time, part-time and hourly positions for the assigned areas.
  • Guide hiring managers in job description development, resume review, interviewing, and candidate selection.
  • Train interviewers on inclusive and compliant hiring practices.
  • Share information with candidates on Adelphi’s total compensation.
  • Conduct interviews, reference checks, background checks, and new hire orientations.
  • Compensation Guidance and Classification Services
  • Advise managers on salary ranges, increases, and equity considerations.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. HR Partner on job reviews, salary recommendations, and classification decisions.
  • Support completion of annual compensation surveys.
  • Participate in the Position Review Committee as needed.
  • Performance Management
  • Deliver training sessions on performance management.
  • Support managers in conducting effective feedback and development conversations.
  • Connect employees and supervisors to performance resources.
  • Employee and Labor Relations
  • Proactively address issues through coaching, training, and early intervention.
  • Advise managers on resolving concerns and applying progressive discipline when appropriate.
  • Partner with managers and employees on sensitive employee relations issues.

  • Identify departmental and individual training needs.
  • Facilitate HR-related training sessions.
  • Other Duties
  • Take the lead on major projects, such as Bring Your Child to Work Day, Performance Management, policy changes and others as assigned.
  • Assist the Sr HR Partner with the student employment initiative and the position review process.
  • Process HR related dues, requisitions and bills.
  • Respond to unemployment inquiries.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
