American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring critical care drip titration skills and KS or compact RN licensure.
Details- General ICU unit with 10 beds in an acute care hospital setting
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized medications
- 24/7 in-house hospitalist and respiratory therapy coverage with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment
- No dedicated tele/monitor techs; RNs must read their own telemetry strips and escalate as needed
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
- Nurse aide support available depending on patient volume
- Day shift schedule with self-scheduling and block scheduling options
- Weekend requirement of a minimum of six shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Call or standby requirements determined by the nurse manager
- Floating required and traveler is first to float; may float within Zone 4 for extreme need
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12 hours of orientation provided
- Active KS or compact RN license required
- 2+ years of recent ICU experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CRRT certification required
- Understanding of working in a rural setting and using telehealth for critical care and pulmonology support
- Ability to titrate critical care drips independently
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide critical care nursing services in a rural general ICU supported by onsite hospitalists and 24/7 respiratory therapy
- Collaborate with telehealth critical care and pulmonology services as needed
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
- Float radius policy applies, requiring travelers to secure housing that allows them to float within their assigned zone
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility within the associated health system in the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
