Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring KS or compact RN licensure and critical care drip titration skills.

Details
  • Acute care ICU with 10 general beds at a Level 3 trauma facility
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2
  • Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
  • RNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized drips
  • RNs must be able to independently read telemetry strips and escalate as needed
  • Onsite hospitalist and 24/7 respiratory therapy coverage with vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment
  • Rural setting utilizes telehealth for critical care and pulmonology support
  • Charge nurse takes an assignment and nurse aides are available depending on volume
  • Night shift schedule using self-scheduling and block scheduling
  • Weekend requirement of a minimum of six shifts per six-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Floating determined by nurse manager, with potential to float within Zone 4 for extreme need and priority given to travelers
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour shifts over a 13-week assignment
Requirements
  • Active KS or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and CRRT
  • Experience titrating critical care drips required
  • Ability to work in a rural setting and utilize telehealth for critical care and pulmonology support
  • Ability to independently interpret telemetry strips
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients including drip titration and monitoring
  • Collaborate with onsite hospitalist, respiratory therapists, and telehealth critical care/pulmonology support
  • Navy blue scrub color required
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
  • Unit and department orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
  • Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are remote
  • First-time travelers may be considered
