Mechanic II

This position performs preventative maintenance and repair of golf turf maintenance vehicles and equipment including trucks, tractors, mowing reels and turf vehicles at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.

• Performs general overhaul and repair work on small engines, gasoline and diesel tractors, light and heavy trucks and mechanical equipment.
• Services and performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Performs electrical repair on various equipment.
• Utilizes spray painting equipment to refurbish equipment and vehicles.
• Performs welding activities to repair equipment.
• Requisition s and maintains inventories for tools and supplies.
• Prepares and maintains records of equipment operation, repair and cost of maintenance. Responsible for Building maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in the use of hand and power tools. Skill in locating and adjusting defects in automotive equipment. Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair. Knowledge of hydraulics. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices and procedures. Ability to understand verbal and written instruction. Ability to communicate with other city employees and the general public.

Education, Certification and

Experience:

High school diploma or GED. Trade school or vocational school course work preferred. Three years’ experience in a related field required. Experience at a golf course preferred. Valid Kansas driver’s license required.

Environment: Regular contact with dust, noise, poor lighting, heat and cold temperatures, all types of weather conditions; exposure to hazards.

Physical Characteristics: Lifting weights of 26-50 pounds encountered and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing etc.
