Position OverviewThe Used Car Manager will co-lead all aspects of the used vehicle department, with a primary focus on driving sales performance, profitability, and team development. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about training, TOs, CRM utilization, inventory strategy, and building high-performing sales teams.
Key Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Performance- Develop and execute effective sales strategies to maximize used vehicle volume and gross
- Monitor key performance indicators and sales trends, adjusting strategies as needed
- Collaborate with executive leadership to meet departmental goals and profitability targets
- Utilize CRM tools to improve lead management, follow-up, and closing ratios
- Source, acquire, and manage quality used inventory aligned with market demand
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance turn, volume, and profitability
- Ensure accurate, competitive pricing based on real-time market data
- Oversee vehicle reconditioning to ensure quality, safety, and cost control
- Build and maintain relationships with auctions, wholesalers, and vendor partners
- Lead, coach, and motivate sales consultants to consistently exceed performance goals
- Foster a positive, accountable, and customer-focused team culture
- Conduct ongoing training in product knowledge, sales processes, and customer engagement
- Provide clear expectations, performance feedback, and professional development support
- Accurately appraise vehicles using market data, condition, and dealership objectives
- Regularly review and adjust pricing strategies to stay competitive and maximize profit
- Ensure appraisals are fair, consistent, and aligned with market conditions
- Ensure a seamless, professional customer experience from first contact through delivery
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and effectively
- Consistently meet or exceed customer satisfaction benchmarks
- 3+ years of experience in used car management or a comparable automotive leadership role
- Proven success growing used vehicle sales, volume, and profitability
- Strong understanding of pricing, appraisals, inventory control, and market analytics
- Experience managing reconditioning processes and cost efficiency
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation, closing, and TO skills
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions
- Positive attitude, high energy, and passion for the automotive industry
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
