PositionSummary
As our Engineering Manager, you will be the technical cornerstone of our Garden Grove facility. This is a "hands‑on" leadership role that provides the opportunity to lead a talented team of engineers in a dynamic, high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment for the exciting, fast‑pace Space and Defense market. You will drive New Product Introduction (NPI) and quick‑turn solutions, collaborate and support customers and production teams, and solve complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
You will collaborate daily with Production, Quality, and Sales to ensure your team's products are not only technically superior and of the highest quality but also optimized for manufacturability (DFM). Your leadership will be critical in managing complex technical problems, mentoring your team, and driving continuous improvement that keeps us a leader in the space and defense industry.
This position reports to the VP, Engineered Cables and will strategically manage engineering activities across multiple shifts to meet forecasted deliveries and drive continuous improvement in product quality, safety, and operational procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5‑7 years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a formal leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated experience in the interconnect, cable assembly, or wire harness industry is preferred.
- Proven experience in a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment, preferably under AS9100 and ISO
9001 quality systems. - Expert‑level knowledge of cable assembly design, manufacturing processes, power and signal connectors, materials, and testing protocols.
- Deep familiarity with space and defense customer requirements, including MIL‑DTL specifications and industry workmanship standards (e.g., IPC‑WHMA‑A‑620).
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and the ability to mentor others in its application.
- Hands‑on experience with 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) and proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for BOM and routing management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to engage and explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) to comply with ITAR regulations.

Are You Our Next ACE?- Lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from a technical standpoint, including design reviews, material selection, and development of the manufacturing process (BOMs, routings).
- Provide direct, hands‑on engineering support to the production floor, acting as the primary escalation point for technical problem‑solving to minimize downtime and ensure schedule attainment.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews on all new and existing products to reduce complexity, improve yields, and lower costs in collaboration with the operations team.
- Champion Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) by leading the engineering response to internal (CARs) and external (RMAs) quality issues, implementing robust and permanent solutions.
