As an HR Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of a fast-paced, dynamic HR team, providing essential support within employee lifecycle activities, HR operations, and employee engagement. You’ll handle key administrative functions such as onboarding, while ensuring a seamless experience for managers and new hires. Although your primary employee base will be the California locations, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate across our company.


* This is not a remote role and will prioritize working hours on location, with travel up to 10% outside of the Garden Grove, CA office.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop effective partnerships with internal clients, such as HR team members in shared service, HRBPs, and strong relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Participate as a key contributor in the employee lifecycle activities, which include onboarding, college recruiting, employee transitions, and off-boarding activities.
  • Provide a positive first impression during pre-employment and onboarding activities for multiple divisions, which require organized and thoughtful communications to guide new hires in the process. Conduct new hire employee orientations, in person and virtually to provide an interactive experience.
  • Support the growth of Southland’s Early Career Program, by participating in your division’s college recruiting program, with activities such as resume screening, phone screen intern candidates, and contribute during the summer intern program.
  • Maintain employee records with timely filing and consistently following processes. Play a key role in your respective location’s data management activities, as well as following the process associated to employee’s change of status and accurate transfer of information into formal offer letters and documents.
  • Overtime, aspire to grow in your role to support creation and independently project manage HR projects to support business needs, with a focus on process improvements.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Proven ability to build and maintain very effective relationships, while supporting local and remote managers/employees.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking with a solution-oriented mindset, as well as follow processes and procedures across the function within the employee lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate a work style that excels in a collaborative office environment, fostering effective communication, team synergy, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality where required by policy and/or law (drug screen results, HIPAA restrictions, employee disciplinary actions, etc.).
  • This is not a remote role as relationship building and employee/manager interactions are important. Prioritizing working hours on location, with potential travel on a quarterly basis to offices in Northern California. Other travel 1-2 times a year for HR team meetings and professional development. Approximately up to 10% travel.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. (HR degree preferred, such as Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration/Management)
    • If degree is in other field of study, intent to obtain a PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience (HR internship experience can be included)
  • Basic knowledge of employment law, recruitment, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Strong communication skills that require active listening and critical thinking to obtain all the information to achieve the task, while flexing communication styles/approach for internal clients.
  • Very strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced, quickly changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment;…
