CNC MACHINIST I

• Proficient with the operation of CNC lathe machines according to blueprints, specifications, manufacturing orders and work instructions.
• Maintains correct dimensions of parts while running the job using measuring instruments such as micrometers, comparators, calipers, and gauges.
• Verifies the conformity of parts to blueprints/specifications during and/or after the run.
• Replaces and aligns dull and broken cutting tools as required to maintain conformity of parts.
• Recognizes improper machine functioning and reports findings to lead or supervisor.
• Uses passdown logbooks and face-to-face turnover meetings to communicate status of machine(s) including tool changes, maintenance issues, machine performance, and ongoing setup details.
• Prioritizes workload and demonstrates the ability to measure and work to close tolerances.
• Relies on work instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Demonstrates technical knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, using shop tools and measuring instruments.
• Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per specification and acts in accordance with output; uses Shop Floor Systems.
• Familiar with standard practices, procedures and concepts within the metalworking field.
• Operates under general supervision with a degree of creativity and latitude.
• Reports any safety violations, equipment misusage or improperly performed work to supervisor.
• Complies with federal, state and local regulations, LISI Aerospace, and HSE procedures.
• Attends all HSE-provided training; complies with HSE procedures, policies, plans and reporting requirements.
• Brings known or suspected non-conformances to management’s attention immediately.
• Continuously seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance and waste elimination within the department.
• Performs a variety of other tasks and duties as assigned.

• Analytical – Synthesizes information, researches data, and uses experience to guide machining controls; calculates tool sequencing, speed, feed, depth and angle of cut.
• Technical Skills – Knowledge of manufacturing processes, CNC controls, and troubleshooting.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. May assist in the technical coaching of trainees and/or operators.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED;
  Technical schooling preferred.
• Work experience in a fittings manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of CNC operation, machinery, and operating procedures preferred.
