ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse is responsible for safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide direct patient care within the scope of practice, direct and guide patient/family teaching, and supervise activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards in telemetry. The RN is directly responsible and accountable for care given to patients in the Emergency Department, communicating with physicians about changes in clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology.
They respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment response, are knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and a hospital social worker, and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Current and valid state RN license
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintained
- Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire and maintained
- Minimum one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital; ER setting preferred
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintained annually
- Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintained
- EDAP certified facilities:
Completion of Emergency Pediatric Course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire - Non-OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate within 90 days upon hire and maintained
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required
The current compensation range for this role is $52.89 to $66.05 (hourly). The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection, considering skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
