We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Processor to manage the processing of mortgage loan applications from initial submission through approval and closing. In this role, you’ll work closely with borrowers, Loan Officers, Underwriters, title and escrow companies, appraisers, insurance providers, real estate professionals, and other partners to ensure loan conditions are obtained, reviewed, and cleared accurately and on time.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, with strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines and the ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do- Process and package mortgage loans accurately and within established timelines.
- Monitor daily processing requests and manage multiple loan files throughout the process.
- Communicate with borrowers regarding underwriting conditions and follow up to obtain required documentation.
- Open title and escrow and coordinate with title and escrow professionals throughout the transaction.
- Order and follow up on appraisals, payoffs, flood certifications, verification of employment, compliance reports, and other required documentation.
- Prepare and update Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures as needed.
- Review and audit appraisal reports and address identified issues or conditions.
- Work closely with Underwriting to obtain approval and clear outstanding conditions.
- Coordinate pre-closing loan packages with internal Compliance and Quality Control teams.
- Obtain final approval to close and submit completed files to the Closing/Funding team.
- Work with closing attorneys, title and escrow officers, real estate agents, and other professionals involved in the loan transaction.
- Ensure all loan files meet applicable lending policies, guidelines, compliance requirements, and established deadlines.
- Maintain accurate and organized loan files and documentation.
- Participate in training, department meetings, cross-training, and other initiatives as assigned.
- Support department and Credit Union goals and objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of mortgage loan processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of conventional, non-conforming, and HELOC lending guidelines.
- Experience with Encompass or another loan origination system.
- Proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP).
- Working knowledge of real estate lending compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain an organized workflow.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong member service skills and a commitment to providing an exceptional member experience.
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and procedures.
