Reporting to the Materials Manager in Gardena, CA, this role operates in accord with the Materials/Supply Chain team. As a hands-on leader, it is the responsibility of the Inventory Control Supervisor to ensure that the Solvent Cement integrated inventories are positioned to achieve customer On Time Performance expectations with optimized inventory accuracy, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. This role will assess on hand inventory accuracy, production work order accuracy, and lead continuous improvements in Gardena Manufacturing Operations through enhancements in standardized processes, tools, metrics, analytics, and deep-dive problem-solving.
Responsibilities- Complete cycle counts; investigate inventory gains and losses; maintain accurate product records; monitor rotation and transfer of inventory items.
- Review work orders closure in a timely manner.
- Measure weekly, quarterly and annual work order variances, cycle count goals and QC Hold goals.
- Coordinate with Materials Manager for on-hand inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate material movement between warehouses, bin locations and production floor (as needed, for cycle counting).
- Utilize MRP to ensure the data is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain system data integrity to ensure best data is available for critical decision-making.
- Cultivate a high-performance, result-oriented culture by maintaining positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and track performance objectives and development plans for team members while providing coaching and mentoring when needed.
- Must adhere to all standard and specialized PPE requirements and ensure that team members are adhering to all safe work practices.
- Conduct daily inventory analysis and work order variances and bring resolution to discrepancies and problems. This includes reconciling discrepancies across multiple systems, locations, categories, and classes.
- Identify the root cause of inventory transaction errors and implement the appropriate countermeasures to prevent the issue from recurring. This includes documenting the inventory process and updating documents as required.
- Manage and obtain dispositions for Overrun, Damage, and QC Hold Inventory locations.
- Coordinate with warehouse, production, EHS, and QC to rework and scrap material appropriately.
- Work in parallel with the Materials Manager to execute the yearly Physical Inventory.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience of Kanban process, preferably ownership of inventory management utilizing this system (preferred, not required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an Inventory Control role.
- Previous experience of leading/managing an Inventory Control team (preferred)
- APICS Certification (preferred)
- Associate's degree in a related field required
- Highly proficient using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Understanding of Material Handling and manufacturing processes
- Strong working knowledge and experience using MRP systems (JDE E1)
- Familiarity using business system tools (i.e., lean, six sigma, continuous improvement)
