Position Summary:
At the direction of the Quality manager, quality inspectors train to develop the ability to use predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to perform in-process and completed inspection of products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, processed parts and purchased standard hardware. They also perform verifications of part identification and configurations. Level one quality inspectors will arrange inspection queues to identify priority work.
In addition, they will identify and segregate non-conforming product using basic knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing methods per ASME 14.5, and common inspection measuring equipment including, but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators as necessary to complete assignments. Level one quality inspectors will demonstrate blueprint reading and basic math skills, basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use MRP or ERP systems after instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Visual inspection for damage/defects.
- Verify all previous shop traveler operations have been completed.
- Perform dimensional inspection of parts to shop traveler and customer drawing.
- Perform First Article inspection as required.
- Raw material inspection.
- Verify supplier’s shipper conforms to purchase order requirements.
- Check material dimensional, finish and visual conformity, along with completion of type verification.
- Prepare all associated documentation such as system 22, AS9102, check sheets, etc.
- The ability to read and write English.
- An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
- Some knowledge of inspection equipment, including gauges, calibrations and micrometers and of the product being manufactured is preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical abilities are particularly important for this job.
- Basic blueprint reading competencies.
- 0-1 years of experience.
Education:
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
