$5,000 Sign-On Bonus! (1st half paid out on 90 day anniversary, 2nd half on 1 year anniversary)
We are a fast‑growing company providing utility services such as power line, telecommunications, metering, and smart grid services throughout the Northeast. This position is responsible for the safe operation of a digger derrick truck to complete pole set projects.
Starting pay for this position is $30.00/hr doe.
Responsibilities- Operate a digger truck efficiently following all construction safety and maintenance codes, standards & guidelines. Tasks include using heavy construction vehicles/equipment to install or remove utility poles roadside, off‑road, or in hard‑to‑access areas.
- Work around energized lines and equipment.
- Provide jobsite/crew oversight to ensure crew safety.
- Provide training and coaching for less experienced crew members.
- Procure, operate, and maintain tools, equipment and instruments of the trade; ensure required maintenance is performed.
- Read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams, and work plans.
- Work with internal and external teams in a professional, courteous manner to meet all project requirements, inventory/equipment needs, and schedules, including required documentation.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet customer demands, including overtime and emergency duty (nights, weekends, holidays).
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- High school graduate or equivalent; technical education preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating Digger Derrick and installing poles around energized conductors, including practical rigging knowledge for hoisting/pulling applications.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant utility design, construction, and maintenance including safety requirements and federal/state/local laws.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain required licenses, certifications & documents.
- Professional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with strong work ethic; self‑motivated.
- Leadership skills: proactively coaching, mentoring, and directing less experienced coworkers.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi‑task.
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Card (DOT Card) as required.
- Physical capability: lift 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently; work outside in all weather conditions; operate trade‑related equipment/vehicles for several hours daily.
