Workplace Health & Safety Specialist (WHSS)

As a Workplace Health & Safety Specialist (WHSS), you’ll be at the forefront of transforming workplace safety culture, combining technology with human‑centered solutions to protect employees and ensure they return home safely each day.
CoreImpact Areas
- Safety Program Excellence & Implementation – Drive comprehensive safety programs through data‑driven strategies. Lead daily safety audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and implement innovative solutions to prevent injuries. Deliver engaging safety training and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
- Associate Advocacy & Cultural Leadership – Serve as a trusted safety advisor, build partnerships, foster a safety‑first culture, and transform safety data into narratives that influence positive change.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
- Stand/walk up to 12 hours per shift.
- Work in environments with variable noise levels and temperatures/ weather conditions.
- Continuously climb and descend stairs (where applicable).
- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response.
Must be available to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required or must be obtained within three weeks of the start date.
Basic Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one year in an environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field, a bachelor’s degree in an EHS‑relevant background, or six months of experience in a safety‑related role within Amazon.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality involving security or personal workplace issues.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a safety‑related field.
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer‑focus skills.
- Experience leading and managing a team and analyzing accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns; conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
- Experience in emergency response with current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Experience in workers’ compensation case management.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $52,400/year to $76,500/year, depending on market location. Additional components such as equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits may be offered. For more information, visit Amazon’s benefits page.
