Founded on February 25, 2002, we have 20 years of experience as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving low‑income, underinsured, uninsured, publicly housed, and homeless populations in 35 cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts.
Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Medical Office Supervisor, the Front Desk Receptionist manages the arrival and departure of patients seeking services at the CHC Fitchburg Medical department. The role includes receiving patients, updating patient information, printing encounter forms, booking appointments, cash reconciliation, and cross‑covering other medical departments as needed, as well as working one assigned evening.
Responsibilities- Receive and direct incoming patients
- Review and update patient information related to demographics and insurance
- Follow established health center protocol for check‑in, encounter form production, and check‑out
- Assist walk‑in patients with obtaining appointments or picking up prescriptions or completed forms
- Place reminder calls to patients with upcoming appointments
- Schedule walk‑in appointments in collaboration with the Nurse of the Day
- Schedule patient appointments according to established protocol
- Provide coverage to Medical Records as needed
- Collaborate with clinical and non‑clinical staff to manage patient care as a team effort
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate Degree in secretarial science or equivalent preferred - Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- 1 year of similar work experience or experience in a medical office environment preferred
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high telephone call volume office environment

Required:
High School or better.
Preferred:
Associates or better.
Pay or shift range: $18 USD to $22 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons.
