Library Assistant - Bilingual (07469)

Hours:

16 hours weekly, Monday through Wednesday nights, and all Saturdays

Rate of Pay: $19.51 per hour

Reports to:

Head of Public Services

• Support the Public Services staff in the creation, execution, and maintenance of a variety of programs for in-person, online, and outreach, in particular bilingual programming.
• Proficient in software such as Canva to assist in the creation of promotional materials as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Docs.
• Assist in translation as needed, both directly with patrons and the translation of library signage, flyers, and other materials.
• Cover all public service desks, including Circulation, and assisting with all the basic tasks of these desks, including answering basic reference questions and patron inquiries, checking in and out books, creating library cards, registering patrons for programs, assisting with computers, copiers, and scanners, etc.
• 6 hours of continuing education courses are required every year via webinars, workshops, or seminars.
• Perform other duties as assigned for an evolving and growing library.

Requirements:

• Applicants must be fluent in both Spanish and English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
• Some background in libraries, museums, or other similar venues is preferred.

This is a Civil Service position;
