Overview

The Advisor prepares youth, academically and socially, to pursue their post-secondary aspirations. This involves supporting a college and career‑going culture on the assigned high school campus and assisting students in all college and career preparatory activities (applications for admission, scholarships, SAT/ACT testing, etc.).

Advisors connect high school students with the financial and social resources necessary to make college and career credentialing matriculation and graduation a reality. The ideal candidate should have experience working with youth in a counseling, high school, or college setting. Experience in college admissions or school counseling is preferred. Candidates must have strong analytical, writing, and project management skills and be able to influence and motivate young people about the value of college.

We are currently looking for a bilingual advisor to work in South Dallas
.

Responsibilities
  • Informing students about EIF, policies, guidelines, and expectations.
  • Promoting a college‑going culture on respective campuses and recruiting new students to the program.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with high school students.
  • Case management of files, including student closeouts upon graduation.
  • Assisting with the college application, admission, and enrollment processes.
  • Registering students for college entrance and placement examinations (including ACT, SAT, TSI).
  • Assisting students with financial aid, grants, and scholarship applications.
  • Planning and conducting life skills classes and college retention seminars.
  • Assisting with scholarship applications and opportunities (internships, camps).
  • Facilitating college transitions through programming, mentor matching, and one‑on‑one contact.
  • Monitoring student progress and referring students for additional services as needed.
  • Contributing to identification of funding opportunities for students.
  • Assisting with special projects and other duties as needed at the discretion of EIF Advisor Managers.
