Job Title: Operations Lead
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Plant Manager
Job OverviewThe primary responsibility includes managing all day-to-day plant operations, leading a team across all production areas, and improving efficiency, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
Essential Responsibilities- Supervise plant operations including production, warehouse, machining, processing, and assembly.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver products on time.
- Manage staff, prepare work schedules, and assign duties in production.
- Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, and objectives such as GMP and SQF safety procedures.
- Maintain communication and coaching with employees daily to ensure clarity of goals and direction.
- Train direct reports on operating procedures, quality standards, environmental, health, and safety procedures, and company policies.
- Respond to emergency departmental requests and troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution.
- Participate in all shifts as required to maintain streamlined operations.
- Collaborate with other departments on projects as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with shop environment and ability to apply fundamental troubleshooting skills to technical problems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify and address problems, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel and handle stressful situations professionally.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
- Computer proficiency—including ERP systems and Microsoft Office—to track administrative tasks such as report writing, work order analysis, and product estimates.
- Excellent communication skills, both group and one‑on‑one.
- Strong decision‑making skills to improve workflow.
- Minimum 2 years of leading a team in a manufacturing environment; experience in the plastic industry or similar is highly preferred.
- Work in office and warehouse environments.
- Operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods.
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods on the shop floor.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Work in a warehouse with temperature variations.
