Middle School Humanities Teacher (Full-Time)

Location: Oak City Academy

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary: $40K to $45K yearly

Reports to: MS Academic Dean & Director of Lower and Upper School

Oak City Academy is seeking a passionate and Christ-centered Middle School Humanities Teacher to join our team. This role will engage students in Literature, Composition & Grammar, and Creative Writing, rooted in Classical pedagogy and supported by our Core Values, Statement of Faith, and culture of honor.

What You’ll Teach

• Middle School Humanities subjects such as:
• English 6, 7, and English 1 (Literature)
• Writing Workshop and a Creative Pathway class (e.g., Media Arts)
• Speech and Debate

What You’ll Do

• Deliver instruction aligned with Classical principles and OCA curriculum maps
• Create and submit weekly lesson plans
• Track and assess student progress quarterly
• Lead a structured and safe classroom using OCA’s House System and Discipline Matrix
• Partner with parents through regular communication and conferences
• Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly staff development, and additional professional learning
• Support school culture through House events, lunch duty, and 2 annual community events

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Education, English, or related field preferred)
• Classroom teaching experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Classical education and/or Montessori principles is a plus
• Proficiency with Google Suite and strong written communication skills
