Our School

21st Century Charter School at Gary is a free K‑12+ public charter school. We are building a team of excellence. We are the top performing charter school in Gary, Indiana. We are one of the few Indiana schools offering an early college program, which allows our qualifying high‑school students to take real college courses for real college credit, free of charge to our students and their families.

Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K‑8, Project Lead the Way beginning in middle school, and a blended learning model in middle school through high school. Reports To / Term

Principal and Administrative Team.

This is a full‑time 10‑month position.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and teach an appealing and engrossing curriculum for high school students.
  • Provide hands‑on learning experiences in all the essential areas of the construction industry.
  • Highly promote workplace safety, tool handling, and construction site best practices.
  • Incorporate industry trends and technologies into lessons.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, trade organizations, and apprenticeship programs to create career pathways for students.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom and workshop environment.
  • Enable students to achieve industry skills certifications.
  • Work with school administrators and fellow educators to align course objectives with career and technical education (CTE) goals.
Requirements
  • At least 4,000 clock hours in the construction field to qualify for the Workplace Specialist Teaching License required.
  • Workplace Specialist License required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • NCCER Certification required.
